A Cold Spring Wedding at Churchill

April 10, 2018  •  3 Comments

This is my FIRST wedding of 2018!!!  I was so excited for this wedding because over the winter I have invested so much into numerous classes to be more knowledgeable for weddings to better serve my clients.  But, if I had to choose a wedding to start out 2018 on the BEST note, it would’ve been Kelsey and Gray's! I absolutely adore shooting at Churchill and Kelsey and Gray are just the best couple. Their entire wedding day was planned out to every last detail (Kelsey even bought her wedding day perfume, just because it matched her colors!! Girl after my own heart!) Although, it was a "Spring" wedding in April, we woke up to a small blanket of snow and snow showers.  As the day progressed, the temperatures rose, the snow melted and the sun started to shine.  It was the perfect ending to this perfect day!

Gray and Kelsey met at Transylvania University in the fall of 2011 when Kelsey started school as a freshman. Limping into the choir room on crutches (late, of course) because of a stress fracture during the first week of classes - and being forced to sit in the front row as a first soprano - Kelsey felt all eyes in the room on her...including the guy who just awkwardly introduced himself as "Gray, like the color". Not giving it a second thought, the two would spend their first semester on campus together as simply acquaintances until fate found them getting to know each other better during the winter semester. On January 30th of 2012, they finally made it official and decided to give it a shot!

Transylvania University is notorious for several interesting landmarks, but few are more beautiful than the famous Kissing Tree. Legend says that kissing your significant other under this enormous tree guarantees a lifetime of happiness, so what better place is there for one of the most important kisses ever??

On Gray's 26th birthday, after dinner with family, Kelsey and Gray headed to campus to "meet some friends and head out to celebrate". Little did Kelsey know that it wasn't just a birthday they would be celebrating! Complaining about taking the long way through campus in the freezing cold, the mood quickly changed when Kelsey discovered the most beautiful set of candles and decorations under the Kissing Tree. After declaring that he didn't want to spend any more birthdays without her as his wife, Gray finally asked Kelsey to marry him.

Kelsey and Gray: I hope you are enjoying your first few days as Mr. & Mrs.! Thank you so, so much for inviting me into such a special season of your life – I hope you enjoy some of my favorites!

XOXO
